MIMC meet roughly once a month at various locations in the Scottish Borders.
What to expect at a MIMC meeting:
Introductions / Welcome are the first order of the day – We love to welcome new people from all backgrounds and walks of life who are interested in moving image and experimental film.
Planning / discussion / housekeeping – There’s always things to talk about, exhibitions and opportunities to plug and plans to discuss. We try to keep this to as short a time as possible to not bore everyone! Sometimes we run separate meetings around projects we’re working on to avoid this taking up too much of the time we’d all rather be watching and talking about films in.
Onto the main course: As a group we support each other by offering feedback to work in progress while creating a safe environment. We open the floor up for members to share film and video – work in progress; experimental classics; polished complete pieces, or unformed ideas that you’d just like some input on. If you are a filmmaker or have aspirations to make films, or just want to see something new, you are most welcome to join us whether or not you have anything to show.
There’s lots of discussion, and usually a coffee break.
Please let us know in advance if you’d like to share work at a zoom meeting – you can do that via Facebook or Discord.
IRL meetings only:
Please bring work in progress on a memory stick in a Mac friendly format. Tea, coffee and delicious biscuits by donation.
We’re kindly supported by Unit Four, in their lovely space in Hawick.
