The Moving Image Makers Collective (MIMC) is a collective of moving image artists and filmmakers who meet monthly in the Scottish Borders, both online and in-person. Formed in 2014, MIMC have since worked together to produce several large group exhibitions, over 100 individual film and moving image works, a range of specialised artists’ film screening programmes and a successful international touring programme of members’ moving image work. Our membership is constantly evolving though we have a core active membership of around twenty filmmakers. We also engage with a far larger constituency of artists, both nationally and internationally, on a less frequent basis.
We love to welcome new members, whether you are experienced or only just getting started in film or moving image practice. You can find out what happens in a MIMC meeting here, or see some our members work here. We aim to help people, and one another, in developing skills, knowledge and confidence within an environment that provides supportive and meaningful feedback. This includes helping people to get started, no matter what background you may have. We work together in developing new collective creative projects, creating screening and exhibition opportunities which are led by our members.
